R. Shapiro, M.D. became interested in light-based
therapies for skin as an outgrowth of his extensive work and research
applying light to the eye in the form of laser vision correction
-- an area in which he is considered one of the nation's leading
authorities. Dr. Shapiro has been named "one of the
country's top laser surgeons" by NBC Channel 4 News
in Los Angeles. He has been called called one of the 30 leading
LASIK surgeons in the world by EyeWorld and one of the
"nation's top refractive surgeons" by Primary Care
Optometry News, two leading eye care journals. Working with
other leading laser vision correction surgeons from across the country,
Dr. Shapiro has helped bring these advanced light-based technologies
to the skin at the Shapiro Laser Aesthetics Center. |

Patricia Tolegian, Licensed Aesthetician and Penny Vogel,
R.N.
work together as a highly trained team
specializing in the use of modern light-based skin rejuvenation
therapies. Patricia’s background is unique in that she
is a licensed aesthetician with over 30 years of medical experience
in aesthetic dermatology, having worked in medical offices
providing care and counseling after cosmetic dermatology treatments.
Over these past three decades, she has been involved in the
evolution of aesthetic skin care, including the evolution
of medical laser and light-based skin therapies. Previously
voted Ojai Valley Community Hospital’s “Nurse
of the Year,” Penny has over 14 years of hospital-based
nursing experience, including experience with skin lasers.
Under Dr. Shapiro's guidance, they have received advanced
one-on-one training specifically in the new generation technologies
involved in Controlled Spectrum Light Therapy
by nationally recognized leaders in this revolutionary field.
Over the past two years, both Patricia and Penny have been
involved in hundreds of CSL treatments at the Shapiro Laser
Aesthetics Center.
